Background of the TVFA.Welcome to the Twin Valley Football Association
History
Twin Valley
Football, Inc. is a non-profit (Section 501 (c)(3)) organization that provides
football and cheerleading experiences for children and families in Chester and
Berks counties of Pennsylvania. Twin Valley Football (TVFA) was designed to
instruct children from the ages of 5 through 12 on the basic skills of football
and cheerleading, as well as the peripheral aspects of the two sports – namely,
sportsmanship, self-confidence, self discipline, respect, team work, and
finally, a sense of community.
|
|
The
organization has been in existence since the early 1970’s and children living in
the Elverson, Honeybrook, Morgantown and Birdsboro areas of Pennsylvania are
eligible to participate. TVFA collects a nominal fee from all participants that
is used towards the upkeep of equipment, safety courses, entry fees, and
on-going costs.
|
|
TVFA has
always been very proud of the educational experience provided to the children
that annually participate. It is with extreme pride that TVFA watches the
children grow and mature from one level of football and cheerleading to the
next. TVFA has seen children approach the playing field with no self-confidence
and walk off after a season with their head held high and a confident step in
their stride.
|
|
TVFA coaches
have a mantra on the field “Above all else, educate and instruct the kids”. The
organization is about teaching the children, not just about winning. For that
reason, at the two younger levels, no scores or records are kept, announced or
displayed. For the two older levels, although scores are kept, the message
taught to the children is that everyone is a winner, and yet, they are also
taught that there are times in life where games will be lost.
